Community Bus

Description Of The Bus

A community bus is available for hire by any community member or organization. The bus was purchased new in October 2002 with the financial assistance of the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Lotteries Commission and the Shire of Northampton. The bus seats 28 people including the driver.

Fee To Hire The Bus

The cost to hire the bus is 65 cents per kilometre, or for a school or seniors 55 cents per kilometre. The hirer is also responsible for all fuel costs and must return the bus in a clean and tidy state. A $200.00 bond is also charged. The booking will not be confirmed until the bond is received.

Bus Driver

A Light Rigid (LR) or F class licence is required to drive the bus. A photocopy of the nominated drivers licence is required with booking. If the driver is volunteering their services to drive the bus a LR class drivers licence is required. If the driver is to be paid for driving the bus then an F class drivers licence is required. The various policies of schools may also require an F class drivers licence for when the bus is used for the transportation of school children.

Booking The Bus

Contact the Northampton office on 9934 1202 to make a booking for the bus. A completed application form, copy of nominated drivers licence and $200.00 bond is to be received by the office prior to any booking being confirmed. Regular ongoing bookings will not be accepted (i.e. no organization will be able to book the bus for every Sunday of the year). This will prevent any group from monopolizing the use of the bus.
