END OF AN ERA
At the completion of the 2009 Local Government Elections four Councillors retired, being the previous Shire President Cr George Parker, Cr Eric Simkin, Cr Vicki Maskrey and Cr Alcida Link.
Cr Eric Simkin has been on Council for 12 years, Cr Vicki Maskrey for a second term for 4 years and Cr Alcida Link for 4 years. The Councillors are thanked for their guidance and leadership throughout their years on Council.
Cr Parker has been on Council for 22 years of which he has served as President for 10 years and Deputy President for 4 years. Cr Parker has been a very active member of the Council and the communities. Cr Parker has seen many projects and improvements to services, infrastructure, road works etc come to fruition during his term and without his support and leadership it I doubtful that some of the projects would have in fact occurred.
To dedicate 22 years of a person’s life as a Councillor, which is a voluntary position, is a testament to the dedication and commitment he gave to the Shire of Northampton. His efforts are greatly appreciated.
The Council wishes the four members all the best for their life outside of local government.
