Organising an Event
If you answer YES to one or more of the following questions, then you will need to submit an Event Application Form.
- Is the location of the event at a public reserve, park or beach?
- Will food be sold or a donation for food/entry be charged?
- Will alcohol be sold, provided or BYO allowed?
- Will any marquees be erected?
- Will there be market stalls, amusement rides or inflatable structures
- Will there be any loud noise after 7:00 pm (e.g. music)?
- Will there be camping?
The form doesn't take long to complete, and it will help you check off all necessary tasks and ensure the correct safety standards are in place to run a safe and successful event.
Please note that you must complete and submit an Event Application to the Shire at least 6 weeks before the proposed event.
Your approval, including any requirements, fees, and bond payments (if applicable), will be outlined in the approval notification.

Temporary Food Application
When food is prepared and sold to the public, the Food Act 2008 requires the person or business responsible to be registered with the local government authority. When a food seller wants to sell food for one-off occasions, they must submit a temporary food permit application to the local government authority. This includes selling food at community group sausage sizzles, charity fundraisers, some not-for-profit agencies, and events where tickets entitle the ticketholder to food.
Community Groups & Fundraisers - Low Risk Foods
A temporary food permit is required and will only be issued for ‘low risk foods’ such as sausage sizzles, simple barbeques and cake stalls for community and charitable groups. Please note that the Shire’s environmental health officers are authorised to inspect any food premises at any reasonable time to ensure compliance and promote good food handling.
